Travis Kelce continues to make moves from the gridiron to Hollywood as Adam Sandler has revealed that the Kansas City Chiefs tight end (and Taylor Swift’s boyfriend) has a small role in the upcoming Happy Gilmore sequel.
Back in May, on Travis and brother Jason Kelce’s New Heights podcast following news of Happy Gilmore 2, Travis said he was a “huge fan of the Sandman” and would do “anything” to get involved in the sequel. “I didn’t even know there was a job opening on Happy Gilmore 2. I’ll be a fucking extra… anything to get around Happy Gilmore, an Adam Sandler film or set — count me in,” Kelce said.
On Tuesday’s Tonight Show, Sandler talked about the sequel to his 1996 classic golf comedy and announced that Kelce would appear in an unspecified role. “Travis has… he mentioned it, so we have a nice something for Travis,” Sandler said, adding that production will begin in a couple of weeks.
“He’s gonna come by. He’s a very nice guy. You guys would love him in real life. What a big, handsome guy. Funny and cool as hell. He’s a stud, and he’s so funny.”
It’s unclear whether Kelce will just be “a fucking extra” or have a larger role, perhaps playing himself in a celebrity golf scene like Bob Barker’s legendary appearance in the original movie.
Kelce will make his first substantial acting debut in the upcoming Ryan Murphy horror series Grotesquerie, as well as star in the big-screen cop comedy Loose Cannons. The tight end has also been enlisted to host Amazon’s reboot of Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?
