RaiNao is entering a new era at full speed with the sultry single “Roadhead.”
In a video premiering exclusively on Rolling Stone, the Puerto Rican singer-songwriter takes the driver seat with her sexuality and desires. Set in the hazy cloud of an afterparty, the explicit clip finds RaiNao ready for action as she heads home. The singer grinds inside her car, promising lovers she finds off the side of the road that she’ll “make their dreams come true” as they join her for an adventurous ride.
“We’re making a series of videos that in the end will all belong to the same universe,” RaiNao explained when she spoke to Rolling Stone in January. “It’s like a big story in little pieces and they all have one thing to do with the other and they all intertwine.”
A bold single, “Roadhead”’ features renowned reggaeton producer Tainy, whose futuristic touch is all over the pulsating track. While Tainy doesn’t make an appearance in the video, his co-sign helps elevate RaiNao’s status as a rising star. In 2023, RaiNao starred in Tainy’s music video for “La Baby” alongside Camila Cabello, Becky G, Bad Gyal, and other notable women in Latin music.
The single is also RaiNao’s first offering from upcoming debut album Capicú, out Feb. 24. In 2022, she released her debut EP ahora A.K.A NAO following a string of successful singles. Capicú, a title that pays homage to the popular Puerto Rican dominoes game, is hard to define for RaiNao. “The album is full of a variety of sounds that there’s no way to create a single line,” she says. “I can’t tell you that it’s reggaeton or about love. I can’t put it in a box or label it.”
